You can help keep feet dry in work boots with the following tips:
• Moisture-wicking socks — Choose lightweight socks that wick away perspiration. These types of socks are designed to dry quickly and draw moisture away from the feet.
• Foot powder — Using foot powder with your socks and shoes can help keep feet dry in work boots. Dr. Scholl’s® Odor-X® Odor-Fighting Foot Powder absorbs sweat and controls odor to leave the feet feeling dry and smelling fresh.
• Specialty insoles — Wear insoles that absorb moisture. Dr. Scholl’s® Odor-X® Odor-Fighting Insoles soak up excess sweat and neutralize odors with activated charcoal and baking soda. These unique insoles can be used in a wide variety of shoes, including work boots.
It may not be entirely possible to keep feet from sweating in work boots. However, you can help minimize sweaty feet in a number of ways, including:
• Temperature control — Try using a fan to keep yourself cool in warm environments. Wear layers that you can shed quickly if you become too hot.
• Moisture-control socks — Wear lightweight socks that wick moisture. This can help minimize sweating and reduce moisture when you do sweat.
• Powder spray — After your morning shower, spray foot powder on your feet, socks and inside of your work boots. Dr. Scholl’s® Odor-X® Ultra Odor-Fighting Spray Powder controls odors to promote dry, fresh-smelling feet.
In order to keep feet warm in work boots, try the following:
• Warm socks — Choose socks that offer exceptional warmth and insulation against the cold. Socks that feature natural blends from materials such as wool and mohair can be especially effective at keeping the feet warm without adding too much bulk.
• Foot warmers — Consider using foot warmers with your boots. You can choose reusable microwaveable warmers. You can also opt for single-use foot warmers that produce heat through a chemical reaction.
• Electric heated socks and inserts — If you need to keep your feet warm for long periods, you might consider using electric heated socks or inserts. These products typically use rechargeable batteries, making it easy and convenient to use them day after day.
Work boots should not be bad for your feet if they fit correctly, are constructed with high-quality materials and are worn for the intended activity and for an appropriate amount of time. Some people do suffer from foot issues due to problems from work boots, including:
• Foot fatigue — It’s common for the feet to feel tired and achy at the end of a long day in work boots. You can reduce foot fatigue by wearing insoles with your work boots. Dr. Scholl’s® Comfort & Energy Work Insoles are ideal for people who work on their feet all day. The high-quality construction provides support for feet even in the most challenging work environments. You can also treat your feet to a relaxing and invigorating experience with Dr. Scholl's® Tired, Achy Feet Soothing & Reviving Foot Mask. The pampering treatment provides relief to tired, achy feet in just 30 minutes.
• Blisters — If work boots don’t fit right, they can rub against certain areas of the feet, causing blisters. If this happens, try using blister cushions. Dr. Scholl’s® Blister Treatment Cushions with DURAGEL® technology help heal and protect blisters, providing all day relief from pressure and friction. To prevent friction, also consider using Dr. Scholl’s® Molefoam® Padding Strips. The strips can be cut to the exact size you need. Simply place the strips directly on problem areas of your feet to reduce pressure and rubbing.
• Corns and calluses — It’s common for people to experience corns and calluses from wearing work boots. Both corns and calluses are caused by pressure and friction, and they’re both comprised of hardened layers of skin. If you have corns, try using corn cushions. Dr. Scholl’s® Corn Cushions with DURAGEL® Technology provide relief from shoe pressure while softening corns. These slim, flexible cushions fit easily into any shoe, and they stay in place all day for exceptional comfort. If you have calluses, try Dr. Scholl’s® Callus Cushions with DURAGEL® technology. These thin, comfortable cushions soften calluses while guarding against painful pressure. They’re designed to stay put all day, even during the most demanding days in work boots. If you want to remove corns or calluses, try Dr. Scholl’s® Liquid Corn/Callus Remover. The system combines a salicylic acid treatment with a cushion to eliminate corns and calluses while protecting the area against painful pressure and friction.
• Athlete’s foot — Work boots often cause the feet to become hot and sweaty, creating conditions that are ideal for athlete’s foot, a fungal skin infection. After your morning shower, apply Dr. Scholl’s® Odor-X Antifungal Spray Powder directly to clean, dry feet before putting on your work boots. The formula reduces the risk of athlete’s foot while absorbing sweat and neutralizing odors. You can also treat athlete’s foot with Dr. Scholl’s® Instant Cool Athlete’s Foot Treatment Spray. The formula contains a clinically proven effective antifungal medication. Added menthol delivers a cooling sensation.
• Plantar fasciitis — People who work on their feet all day long are vulnerable to plantar fasciitis, one of the most common causes of heel pain. Those who work on hard, uneven surfaces are especially vulnerable. Dr. Scholl’s® Plantar Fasciitis Pain Relief Sized to Fit Insoles are designed specifically for people with plantar fasciitis. The insoles provide needed arch support and reduce impacts to inflamed heels. You can also try foot massage to help with plantar fasciitis pain. Dr. Scholl’s® Hot & Cold Foot Massage Ball provides an easy and effective way to massage the plantar fascia. You can even fill the ball with either cold or hot water for extra benefits.
• Nail fungus — As with athlete’s foot, hot and stuffy work boots can increase the risk of nail fungus. You can improve the appearance of nails with Dr. Scholl’s® Fungal Nail Revitalizer: Light-Activated Therapy. The two-step system addresses nail discoloration and brittle texture with regular use.
Using moleskin can help prevent blisters on the feet from work boots. Identify any areas where you’re experiencing pressure or rubbing from your work boots. Dr. Scholl’s® Moleskin Plus Padding Roll can be trimmed to any size in order to protect specific areas of the feet that are vulnerable to blisters. Applied directly to the skin of the feet, the padding protects against blister-causing friction. The slim design allows the padding to fit easily into any type of shoe without adding bulk. Moleskin should be used for prevention only. It should not be applied directly to a blister or broken skin. If you already have blisters and you need treatment as well as prevention, try Dr. Scholl’s® Blister Treatment Cushions with DURAGEL® technology. The cushions retain moisture to help blisters heal faster. They also protect the skin against friction that can lead to additional blisters.
You can keep feet from smelling in work boots by using an odor-fighting foot spray. Dr. Scholl’s® Odor-X® Probiotic Extract Formula Foot Spray eliminates foot odor and keeps it from coming back. Simply spray it directly on clean, dry feet after your morning shower and before you put on your work boots. The formula helps restore balance to healthy skin microbiome and leaves the feet feeling cool and comfortable.
It can be difficult to keep the feet cool when wearing work boots but the following tips can help:
• Ventilate — Choose work boots with vents if possible. Some models are designed to be breathable and encourage airflow, which can help keep the feet cool.
• Ensure a proper fit — It’s important that your work boots fill well. Shoes that are too tight can trap heat and cause the feet to overheat.
• Wear appropriate socks — Wear lightweight, moisture-wicking socks to help keep your feet dry and cool.
• Keep the body cool — Focus on keeping your entire body cool by wearing light, breathable layers that you can remove easily if you heat up. If you feel hot overall, your feet will feel hot too.
• Take breaks — When you’re on a break, make sure your feet get a break too. Allow your feet to air out as much as you can during your workday. Take off both your boots and socks, allowing them to dry as much as possible before you return to work.
• Use a cooling foot spray — Use a foot spray every day before you dress. Dr. Scholl’s® Odor-X® Probiotic Extract Formula Foot Spray delivers a cooling sensation and helps keep the feet feeling fresh.
